Supima is twice as strong as regular cotton, which produces exceptionally flexible products. Not all cottons are created equal. SUPIMA and normal cotton are actually two different and distinct cotton breeds. The most common type of cotton grown in the world typically has a fiber length of about 1 inch, whereas SUPIMA cotton averages around 1.4 inches. Longer fibers contribute to strong and softness in clothing and household products, making them more comfortable, retaining color longer and resist pilling. Shorter fibers produce threads that are rough and subject to processing over time on the surface of the product.
